Steinberg is a German music technology company founded in 1984, known for software used in recording, composition, production and audio editing. Its established product families include the Cubase digital audio workstation, WaveLab audio editing and mastering software, and the HALion sampling and sound-design platform.
The company is also known for developing Virtual Studio Technology (VST), a widely adopted format for software instruments and audio effects. Its instrument catalogue includes orchestral libraries such as Iconica Ensembles alongside products such as Electric Bass, extending its range beyond recording applications into sampled sounds for composition and production.
Steinberg products currently in stock at MyGear's partner retailers range from £24 to £492 across 29 listings. These include instruments, full software editions, upgrades and educational licences, so the price span reflects different licence types as well as product tiers. Although MyGear currently categorises the range under Strings, Steinberg's wider focus is music and audio production software rather than physical strings.
