Universal Audio

Universal Audio is an American manufacturer of recording equipment, audio software and guitar effects. Its range includes Apollo and Volt audio interfaces, analogue preamps and compressors, UAD plug-ins and UAFX pedals. The brand traces its origins to 1958 and is closely associated with the 1176 compressor and Teletronix LA-2A levelling amplifier.

Universal Audio is known for combining hardware recording systems with software models of studio equipment. Apollo interfaces integrate onboard processing for compatible UAD plug-ins, while the company's software catalogue includes compressor, equaliser, tape and amplifier emulations. Products such as the Pultec Passive EQ Collection and dbx 160 Compressor/Limiter reflect that focus on established studio designs. Its guitar range extends to amp emulation, compression and speaker processing, including the Lion '68 Super Lead Amp, UAFX 1176 Studio Compressor and OX Stomp.

On MyGear, Universal Audio has 109 products currently in stock at partner retailers, with listed prices ranging from £15 to £3,899. This spans lower-priced software offerings through desktop recording equipment and guitar pedals to higher-priced studio hardware and software bundles. Volt interfaces serve smaller recording setups, while Apollo forms a central part of the brand's professional recording range.
