The Coles 4038 Studio Ribbon Mic (Matched Pair) is a British icon. Adored by Paul McCartney Tchad Blake Joe Chiccarelli and Johnny Marr. The 4038 was first introduced in 1953 to be used by the BBCs broadcasting department. However as time went on its sonic imprint became highly desirable to many artists producers and engineers. From Abbey Road to Capitol Studios and Sunset Sounds to La Fabrique. The warmth and richness that the 4038 imbued in to virtually any source made it a staple point of broadcasting and a permanent fixture in the worlds leading recording studios. Unlike most modern brands producing over-hyped microphones. Coles have stuck to their principles. Whether its pounding drums or delicate strings. This ribbon can do it all. The ultra-flat frequency response of the 4038 guarantees that every source will sound wholly natural. So much so that when listening back youll be forgiven for forgetting that youre not sitting in the room with the artist. This is reinforced via the detailed 30Hz-15kHz frequency response that is designed to convey every last nuance. Without compromise. The incredible transient response that the 4038 provides makes it an excellent choice for sources such as drums percussion and piano. This microphone will take you right back to the golden age of recording! Please note: The Coles 4038 Studio Ribbon Microphone uses a 4069 connection. A 4069 to XLR cable is supplied in the box. Stand adapters are NOT included but are available separately.
