The Barnes & Mullins Empress Tenor Banjo is a four-string resonator banjo with an eye-catching figured burl walnut resonator displaying a distinctive marbled grain pattern. A walnut rim and neck complement its striking appearance while contributing to a sound with superb depth and a bright articulate response. Its versatile tonal character rewards exploration across a wide range of playing styles from accompaniment strumming to individually picked melody lines. With 19 frets and a shorter 576mm scale length the Empress provides an accessible introduction to the banjo particularly for players accustomed to using a pick. An ovangkol fingerboard features patterned mother of pearl inlays while traditional planetary machineheads provide a classic finishing touch. Chrome hardware a rolled brass tone ring 24 brackets and a maple bridge with ovangkol tip complete this distinctive four-string instrument.
