Available from Gear4Music at € 45,86.

The Universal Audio Studer A800 Multichannel Tape Recorder is a plug-in recreation of one of the most highly sought-after tape machines. Renowned for its warm sound solid low-end and overall presence this legendary tape recorder has been used on countless albums by artists ranging from Metallica to Stevie Wonder. Authenticated by Studer and meticulously modelled by UAs team of DSP engineers and AES magnetic recording expert Jay McKnight the Studer A800 plug-in faithfully reproduces the entire multitrack tape circuit path and electronics of an A800. This includes the distinct sounds of multiple tape formulas making it the most accurate representation of professional analog tape recording available. While the original A800 machines weighed a back-breaking 900 pounds and required significant space the UADx plug-in version eliminates the physical limitations while retaining all the beautiful sonic qualities of tape. Simply drop this plug-in on each desired track and you can enjoy the benefits of tape recording without the hassle of manual calibration and maintenance or the risk of tape degradation. With comprehensive electronic signal paths the Studer A800 plug-in infuses your sound with the warmth presence and robust low-end resonance that only authentic tape can provide. The plug-in seamlessly integrates with LUNA allowing for simultaneous tweaks across all channels. It offers versatile sound options from clean to harmonically saturated and includes original IPS control and multiple magnetic tape formulas. With augmented controls for modern producers including Noise EQ and Bias you can customize your sound to perfection. Choose between NAB and European EQ settings for different tape head modes and experiment with HF Bias control to achieve warm and vintage sounds or heavily distorted effects.
