The Roy Benson TR403S Bb Trumpet is a great instrument for students of the trumpet due to its affordability and features for the price. The medium-large bore allows for great projection with not too much breath needed an excellent trait for players who want to project well with less effort. The yellow brass bell creates a bright tone that is often associated with trumpets while the gold brass leadpipe balances this with a slightly darker effect on the sound. Nickel silver outer slides are resistant to corrosion and add sonority to the timbre. The more open bell throat than other models of trumpet results in a darker and richer tone and the bell rim with wire makes your instrument more sturdy and resistant to knocks. Stainless steel pistons wont corrode easily and have minimal friction when being pressed allowing you to play fast passages with ease. There is only one water key on this trumpet which means there are fewer interruptions in the airflow through the instrument creating a more consistent tone.
